Keyhole Spine Care for Faster, Gentler Recovery

Endoscopic spine surgery is a keyhole technique that treats spine problems through a fingertip-wide cut. A thin camera gives the surgeon a clear, magnified view, so the back muscles are not stripped away.

Patients often have less pain and start walking sooner. At Kathir Hospital, surgery is advised only after examination, scans and non-surgical care, and every option is explained.

Questions patients may ask

Clear answers to common questions about back pain, spine conditions and minimally invasive spine surgery.

Is endoscopic spine surgery better than open spine surgery?

For suitable conditions such as a lumbar disc herniation, the endoscopic approach uses a much smaller incision and disturbs less muscle, which often means less pain after surgery and a shorter hospital stay. It is not right for every spine problem, so the surgeon decides after reviewing your symptoms and MRI.
It is usually considered for patients with leg pain from a slipped disc or spinal canal narrowing who have not improved with medicines, physiotherapy or injections. Patients with severe spinal deformity, instability or certain fractures may need a different procedure.
Every surgery carries some risk, such as infection, bleeding, nerve irritation or a recurrence of the disc problem. The risk is generally lower with keyhole techniques, and the team will discuss it with you before you consent.
