Keyhole Joint Care for Quicker, Gentler Recovery

Arthroscopic surgery is a keyhole method to find and treat problems inside a joint. A thin camera enters through tiny cuts, giving the surgeon a clear view to repair or clean the damaged area.

Patients often have less pain, smaller scars and quicker movement. At Kathir Hospital, the orthopaedic team examines you, reviews your scans and tries non-surgical care first, explaining every treatment option clearly.

Questions patients may ask

Clear answers to common questions about keyhole joint surgery, procedures and recovery.

Is arthroscopic surgery better than open surgery?

For suitable problems such as meniscus tears, ligament injuries and some shoulder conditions, arthroscopy uses much smaller incisions and disturbs less tissue, which often means less pain and a quicker recovery. It is not right for every joint problem, so the surgeon decides after examining you and reviewing your scans.
Many patients go home on the same day or within a day or two. Walking usually starts early, but full recovery depends on the joint, the procedure and your rehabilitation, and can take from a few weeks to a few months. Your surgeon and physiotherapist will give you a personal plan.
Every surgery carries some risk, such as infection, bleeding, stiffness or swelling of the joint. The risk is generally lower with keyhole techniques, and the team will discuss it with you before you consent.
